The DRS Protocol™ was designed to relieve neck pain by addressing the dysfunctions that cause your discomfort.
Understanding your neck pain
Many everyday things can cause neck pain, such as watching TV, working at your computer, using your cell phone, reading a book or falling asleep in a chair. When your neck pain cannot resolve on its own, a more serious underlying problem may be indicated, and the DRS Protocol™ may help.
The most common cause of neck pain is functional distortions in the neck resulting from misalignment in the spine (subluxations). These subluxations may be seen in reverse cervical curve, whiplash and joint instability.
Most of the pain-sensing nerves in your neck are located in the pairs of facet joints on the back side of each vertebrae. These smooth, interlocking surfaces allow you to rotate your head and bend your head up and down. If these facet joints become locked or fixated, neck pain can result.
Another problem that can cause pain is the degenerative changes in your neck that can result from neglect over time. Years of uncorrected neck problems can cause bone spurs, disc thinning and other forms of spinal wear and tear.
Conditions such as herniated discs, degenerative discs or spinal stenosis in your neck can press on the nerves branching out from the spinal cord, causing pain, numbness or tingling. These symptoms can radiate into your arms, shoulder blade, hands or fingers.
